I made the first instruction pieces during my first year on the MFA course at Edinburgh College of Art. They have evolved a bit since then, but most display a mundane literalism inspired by Georges Perec’s proposed endotics (See Species of Spaces and Other Pieces (Penguin Modern Classics) – an excellent read). There’s also a good deal of Fluxus period Yoko Ono in there as well.
